Part 20 — Analog Ramp

The Analog Ramp symbol in Crestron SIMPL Windows is used to smoothly transition an analog output value between two points over a specified period. It is commonly used in scenarios where you need to gradually change a value rather than applying an immediate jump, such as volume adjustments, lighting dimming, or camera zoom controls.

You would use Analog Ramp in any scenario where smooth transitions between values are preferred over abrupt changes. It is useful in enhancing user experience, protecting equipment, and ensuring operational smoothness (e.g., avoiding sudden volume spikes or harsh lighting transitions).

Both up and down (and optional mute) are digital signals, so when up is trggered, the output will begin ramping towards 100% based on the ramp time. Similarly, if down is triggered, the analog signal will ramp down towards 0% based on the ramp time.

I tend to write about anything I find interesting. There’s not much more to it than that really :-)
